ECHO FLEET SECURITY HANDBOOK: Part A, Section I: Introduction

This handbook will serve as a guide to all members of Echo Fleet Security as well as those who are aspiring to join the Security Division after graduation of Echo Fleet Academy. The Handbook is always a work in progress and will be edited and added onto as time goes on and things change. Please refer to the guidelines in this handbook to the best of your ability on duty and your career with Echo Fleet Security will go smoothly.

ECHO FLEET SECURITY HANDBOOK: Part A, Section II: The Purpose of Security

Security is an obvious necessity, both to keep the group, its members and all of its assets safe from harm as well as manage infighting and keep problems from arising within our group. It should be known that there are two types of "Security" that we see to, both are very different. The first is Roleplay Security, Roleplay Security (RPS) is, quite simply the role playing of a Security Officer/Aide, it is all in the RP and although during a RP they would have the authority of a Security Official outside of the RP they have no power. Most of our members are RPS. The second is Group Security, Group Security (GS) is above RP and they enforce rules outside of RP and pertaining to the actual safety of the group and our base, whether it be from forum spammers, harassers, abusers or just in general people here to make trouble. Members of GS usually have Moderator powers, and in some cases Administrator powers. They are very well respected and are always available if you need any help in any way at the Starbase.

This is a basic outline of the two types of "Security":

Roleplay Security -
- Focuses on the RP side of the Fleet, playing as Security Officers aboard ships and starbases.
- Has no power outside of the RP, but in the RP should be respected for their authority.
- People in Roleplay Security have the option to apply for Group Security (Sector) status.
- The majority of people in the Security Division are RPS.
- Can either be Officers (Security Officers) or Enlisted (Security Aide).

Group Security -
- Focuses on the real side of Security, dealing with spam, harassing, group abuse and any social or safety issues going on within the group.
- Has at least moderator powers, often administrator powers.
- People in group security are very experienced and great officers, and should be respected as such.
- Can also partake in RP if they wish.
- Only Officers can be Group Security, must apply and be accepted, following a series of training courses.

ECHO FLEET SECURITY HANDBOOK: Part A, Section III: Positions in the Security Division

Security Trainee (Officer/Enlisted) -
Security Trainee's are new members to the Security Division who've either transfered over or just graduated Academy, their job is to attend Security Orientation, patrol with superior officers and do their job to the best of their ability. They can be promoted up to higher levels after anywhere from 7 to 30 days depending on what your DH thinks. Promotion is automatic at 30 days.

Security Aide (Enlisted) -
Security Aide's are the Enlisted members of the Security Division, although they do not have the full authority of a Officer they can still patrol, guard and protect the members and assets of Echo Fleet. They also assist the officers with investigations. They are authorized to carry a hand phaser unless ordered otherwise from senior officers.

Security Officer (Officer) -
Security Officer's are the standard Officers of the Security Division, this is the most common position in the Security Division and is what officers become after they pass the Security Trainee phase. They are fully authorized to patrol and guard Echo Fleet assets, they are trained and authorized to carry a wide array of equipment and weaponry. They may hold Head of Security billets on smaller stations or ships.

Security Supervisor (Officer) -
Security Supervisor's are Senior Security officers with months to years of experience at their job. They preform all of the tasks of a Security Officer with ease as well as act as Senior Members on incident scenes and keeping track of the patrolling Officers, they may have Mod rights.
